These are suggestions as a way of growing in your faith and the path of holiness. Try as much as you are able and allow the Lord to help you in these areas. Your desire and heart is what the Lord seeks.

1.   MORNING OFFERING

  • Kneel down
  • Use your own words or a formula, if you prefer – whatever works for you
  • Offer up all the day ahead for God’s glory
  • Offer everything – your freedom, your memory, your understanding, your family, your friends, even your will – and God will give you back abundantly

2.   SILENT PRAYER

  • At least 20 minutes
  • Preferably before the Blessed Sacrament
  • Speak to God about what is on your mind and in your heart
  • At the same time you will acquire the habit of listening carefully and attentively

3.   SPIRITUAL READING

  • At least 20 minutes
  • Systematic reading of Scriptures
  • Teachings of our Church (Encyclicals, Documents, Letters, etc.)
  • Lives of the Saints
  • Imitation of Christ
  • The fruits of spiritual reading – we read and practice the life of Christ, we grow more to imitate Him; we acquire the wisdom of the saints and the Church

4.   HOLY MASS and RECEIVING HOLY COMMUNION

  • This is the most important of them all
  • It has be to be the very center of our interior life and our day
  • It is the most intimate act possible to man
  • We participate in the renewal of His sacrifice for us and unite body and soul, to the Risen Christ

5.   PRAY THE ANGELUS or REGINA COELI

  • Each day at in morning, at noon and in the evening – it takes but a moment or two
  • It is a wonderful way to greet our Blessed Mother and meditate on the Incarnation and Resurrection of our Lord

6.   PRAY THE HOLY ROSARY

  • What a beautiful way to involve our senses, our intellect and our will in prayer
  • Meditate on the mysteries which surround the life of Our Lord and Our Lady
  • By repeating words of love to Mary and offering up each decade for our intentions, we take the shortcut to Jesus, which is to pass through the heart of Mary.  He cannot refuse her anything!

7.   EXAMINATION OF CONSCIENCE

  • At night before going to bed
  • Sit down, call on the Holy Spirit for light and for several minutes go over your day in God’s presence asking if you behaved as a child of God at home, at work, with your friends.
  • What went well?  What didn’t?
  • What am i grateful for?
  • Make an act of gratitude for the good that you’ve done and an act of contrition for those areas where you failed.
